Setting up our Server Software on OSX
Use the FileMaker Pro Server Installation CD to install the software. The "installation code" is on the outside of the sleeve. You will need to have this code ready.

After the software is installed, it creates a folder called FileMaker Pro Server that is installed in the Applications folder.

At this point do the following:

NOTE: Using FileMaker Pro Server is NOT intuitive. Make no assumptions. Otherwise you could cause database corruption!

Inside the FileMaker Pro Server folder is the application called FMServer Config. Double click it to get the screen below left. The image below right shows that server is running.

NOTE BEFORE QUITTING: When it comes time to quit FileMaker Server you must click "Stop Server" first and wait for "Start Server" to appear again before quitting. If you quit the application BEFORE you click "Stop Server" you could corrupt your databases!

Before clicking Start Server you must set up your software as follows:

Select Preferences found under the FMServer Config menu option. Make whatever changes are needed to make your dialog look like this one, with maximum guests set to 25.

Next, click on Files get the dialog below. Make whatever changes are needed to make your dialog look like this one, with Maximum...files set to 50.

Last, select Administration and check Requores password: and make the password "fmserver" without the quotes.

When you are completed, click OK. You may need to quit server in order to make these changes take effect.
